Carpal Tunnel Exercise:- How to reduce and sometimes totally eliminate the pain of carpal tunnel syndrome?

Carpal Tunnel Exercise can be a viable alternative to other forms of treatment in some cases and it was my motivation for starting this website to help people feel more informed as to the options available for treating the often painful symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Carpal tunnel syndrome first affected me when I was running my own investment advisory business a few years ago I had noticed whilst holding either my cell or a regular phone. I got what felt like an electric shock in my hand and arm which made me lose my grip and drop the phone.

Also I was getting regular pins and needles in the hand and fingers.

I tried using the other hand more to compensate and even eventually brought a head set to make the need to hold the phone often for several hours a day a thing of the past. But inspite of all these precautions the problem seemed to be getting worse and worse.

I was resigned to the fact that I would need an operation since my father had suffered the same problem I assumed it was hereditary but when I spoke to your doctor he suggested at first I should try some carpal tunnel exercises.

These are pretty straight forward and involve so simple stretching of the various muscles which are the root cause of carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms.

These exercises for carpal tunnel are for the hand muscles, wrist muscles, and the neck and shoulder and by carrying these out you may reduce the risk of carpal tunnel in the first place or if you have it aleviate some of the effects of carpal tunnel.

Most exercises take about five minutes and should be repeated every few hours of more often depending on whether the type of work you are doing is making the carpal tunnel worse.

Carpal Tunnel Exercises For The Wrist and Hand

This exercise is really basic but well worthwhile if done correctly. Assuming you have carpal tunnel effects in your right hand make it in to a loose fist with the palm upward. Now using the left hand (reverse if other way round) slowly try and push down the upturned hand.

You should resist the force of pushing hand for around 5 seconds keeping the upturned wrist still and as straight as possible all the time.

Following that turn the right hand palm downwards and press firmly against the knuckles with the left hand for five seconds, the last part of the exercise requires the hand to be on it's side with thumb at the top and then press down for five seconds. This process should be repeated for both hands a few times each day.

Wrist Circles

This exercise again is stretching the muscles of the wrist and hand and is a straight forward carpal tunnel exercise which when used as part of series of different carpal tunnel exercises can be highly effective.

The process is simple keeping your second and third finger as close together as possible draw clockwise circles in the air with the tips of these fingers. This will cause the wrist being exercised to rotate and help with symptoms. This motion should be repeated for a few minutes with each hand.

The last of these simple exercises for carpal tunnel is performed by holding a hand straight up next to your corresponding shoulder with the all fingers together and the palm of the hand facing outward, this looks similar to a shoulder-high salute position.

Once this position is set, bend the hand backward with the fingers still held together with the help of another hand and hold it for five seconds. This can hurt but should be bareable for this short duration. After that open the fingers and thumb with the hand being in the same bent back position and hold it for five seconds. Now repeat the same process with another hand.

There you have it three simple but straight forward and highly effective carpal tunnel exercise which really work.
